I feel like I’ve lost a dear friend today -- a mentor of sorts. Although I only knew him from his incredible career as a newsman and political correspondent, I feel a connection with him because Tim Russert was a hero of mine. Tim died suddenly today from an apparent heart attack. He’s most famous for his years as the host of NBC’s “Meet The Press”, but Tim was also the Washington Bureau Chief at NBC News. Tim has also moderated many of the most important political debates in recent history, and many would agree that he’s helped to shape modern politics in this country.
Russert was possibly the most trustable political newsperson in the world. Whether the news favored his personal beliefs or not, Russert gave us truth and hope in one bright package. When Tim called the 2008 Democratic primary, both candidates took notice and it was over. When Tim spoke politics, the world listened. This was a man who loved his family, his work and his country.
It was partially Tim Russert’s “American Can Do” attitude that gave me the personal strength to start Sinus Buster with 300 bucks and a dream. Tim understood how the history of America relates to our future. Although I’m sad about the loss of such a stellar human being, I’m equally angry that Tim never got to see how this historical presidential election would play itself out.
On a good note, something tells me Tim has already set up a new office in Heaven, and he’ll be there to call the election in spirit. Today, Tim Russert has been solidified as an important figure in American history whose name should never be forgotten. This blog is a way to offer my condolences to his family and to keep his name alive.
I feel the same way. It's nice that you recognized Mr. Russert on your blog. He was a god person who did alot for American politics.
