Sinus Buster On National TV Again

Sorry I haven't posted lately, but things have been very busy around here.  Last Monday I was on the Morning Show with Mike & Juliet, a live talk show that's syndicated around the country. They were doing an investigation on nasal spray addiction - focusing on chemicals used in many popular OTC nasal sprays to mask the symptoms of sinus congestion and allergies. I can't name any names here, but many of the mainstream nasal sprays contain atleast one of these chemicals.  The reason the show called us was because Sinus Buster kept coming up as they were investigating nasal sprays. It turned out that Sinus Buster has become well known for helping people to wean themselves off chemical nasal sprays. Not only is the natural capsaicin in Sinus Buster more effective than traditional chemicals, but it also is much safer. The show went great and it was an awesome experience. They even flew in one of our customers who used Sinus Buster to break a 20 year addiction to chemical nasal sprays. Here's a link to the segment. Sinus Buster Supports St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital

Our local Albany, NY CBS affiliate WRGB is once again holding their annual St. Jude's telethon this sunday (11AM - 6PM). The telethon is hosted by local anchor Greg Floyd and his colleague Jerry Gretzinger. A local mobile billboard company, Go Media, Inc. is pledging 50% of their ad revenue over the next two months to support this year's telethon. Sinus Buster is the first advertiser to jump aboard and support Go Media's efforts in the (Albany - Schenectady - Troy) media market. St. Jude's raises money year round to support their cause of saving children's lives with tireless research and top notch medical care. Backlash To Dog the Bounty Anti-Racist Stance

In recent weeks, we have received thousands of emails and calls in support of our stance against racism in American media as it concerns our future advertising on A&E’s “Dog The Bounty Hunter” series. We have also received numerous emails from Dog’s supporters who for the most part are respectable Americans. But I have also personally received a handful of personal threats from so-called Dog supporters who think our stand against racism is wrong to say the least.

The following letter is my final reply to all supporters of Duane Chapman aka… “Dog The Bounty Hunter”.

“Dear Frustrated Dog Supporter,

Thanks for your response. I truly appreciate all you have to say concerning Duane Chapman. That’s what America is all about my friend. I am a Free Speech fanatic (although you may not think so), except when it comes to using free speech to hurt other Americans without provocation – especially in this time of war. Just think about all the black Americans who are serving in Iraq, and what about those who have already lost life and limb while fighting for our freedom? Do they deserve to even hear the word “Nigger” coming from any American’s mouth – much less that of a white American icon who supossedly stands for freedom? A man who has made his fortune being billed as a freedom fighter?

I know Duane “Dog” Chapman did not mean for his contorversial conversation to reach the masses and hurt others directly, but it did. Therefore I must react as a concerned American, and as the president of a concerned corporation.

If it was just some nameless racist schmuck who had been taped by the National Enquirer, I would understand that such a rant may not effect the world as a whole. But when you’re a celebrity with the power of the media at your feet, you must adhere to a higher standard for the sake of all humanity. More importantly, Duane Chapman stood for equality and justice in my eyes until I heard his private converstaion. This expression of Duane’s true feelings revealed his personal hipocracy to me. Although I believe Dog will have a rightful place in Heaven due to the people he has helped, I am personally disgusted by racial hipocracy.

Even though this was a private conversation that had been recorded, and regardless of the circumstances used for retrieving the evidence – Dog’s feelings were from the heart. Duane should have been using his fame to display a better example to all his fans including his own sons in public and private times. No matter what our color, we are all people and I believe Dog knows that. But he has been brainwashed by a society that splits us into racial groups.

Duane Chapman should have explained this rant from a true human perspective. Instead he chose to follow the bad advice of his handlers by using ridiculous exuses for his soulful rant. If we are going to repair the racial rifts in America, we must speak honestly and open-mindedly. I understand and respect what all the supporters of Dog are saying, but you must look at the bigger picture as an American. In the USA, we stand for equality and justice and no matter what our differences may be, the majority of American citizens aspire to the same things in life. We all want to make a good living, own a home and raise our kids in good health. The color of a person’s skin doesn’t change those basic aspirations and we must stand together if we are going to protect true Democracy and Capitalism in the future to come.”

Update - Sinus Buster on A&E Television Network

Since the whole "Dog the Bounty Hunter" racial slur controversy started, SiCap Industries, the parent company of Sinus Buster has been at the forefront of an advertiser boycott against the popular cable tv show. Before this incident, Dog's show was number one on A&E and we were planning to advertise on it in 2008.

Once I heard Dog's racial rant, I quickly deleted the show from our 2008 ad budget. I have personally reached out to Duane Chapman with no response, and to me that shows he is truly a racist. If Chapman cannot admit his true feelings and continues to proclaim himself as misunderstood, our company can no longer support his television show. How dare you Duane Chapman? You should be ashamed of yourself.

Sinus Buster Pulls Ads From A&E's "Dog The Bounty Hunter" Series

    The recent controversy over the popular A&E show, "Dog The Bounty Hunter" has thrust Sinus Buster into the related media frenzy. When I first heard the tape of Duane "Dog" Chapman, I was shocked. In response our company decided to pull its advertising dollars from the show in our 2008 budget.

    Since then, we have recieved lots of publicity from the National Enquirer, TV Week, and many more media outlets. We have also recieved hundreds of emails from people all over the country, and the vast majority supports our boycott of the show. But we have also recieved dozens of emails from Dog's fans begging us for mercy. I personally believe we should concentrate on making this situation into something positive if that's possible. So I wrote this email to Duane "Dog" Chapman".

Duane,

    I am writing you because this whole racisim thing has really been troubling me as a human being who has always looked up to you. I’m sure you have seen in the media that my company, SiCap Industries has excluded your show from our national tv cable ad campaign for 2008. Just like you, our company sprang from humble beginnings with 300 bucks in my kitchen back in 2003. Against all odds and without any help from anyone, we have grown into a multi-million dollar corporation over the past 4 years.

      We have advertised on your show in many top markets of the country over the past couple years. Because our budget is smaller than most big corporations, we must have total faith in a particular tv show in order to allocate dollars to it. We have always had faith in your show, and we have always put dollars into it.

    I was even thinking of having you join us a spokesperson for Sinus Buster in 2008. Our flagship product, Sinus Buster is the world’s first hot pepper (Capsaicin) nasal spray that relieves most headaches and sinus problems instantly, and I thought the fit would be perfect since you rely on police pepper sprays to protect your life.

    Now for 2008, we have finally grown enough so that we can spend money on national cable buys. One of the first shows I picked was yours. Not only because it’s a great show, but because you seemed to really be working for the “good side” unlike so many other celebrities out there.

    Just like you, I have been in and out of trouble my whole life. My father was a criminal who died as a crack-head hiding from the law and from the outlaws. Although I run this growing company, I only have a ninth grade education. I quit school in 9^th grade because my father had been arrested for kidnapping and rape which ended up as the front story in our hometown newspaper. After that, all the kids in my school labeled me as a rapist because of my father’s actions.

Anyway – you’re probably wondering what my point is.

    First off, I really want you to get through this and turn it into something good. Not only for your own sake, but for your kids because they don’t deserve to live with this stigma. I also want you to turn this around for the sake of all those Americans of color who have been hurt by your actions.

Secondly, I have a gut feeling that you’re heart is a good one, and all you need is a little guidance from the Lord. You have helped many people, and I know there's a place for you in heaven no matter what.

I’m sure there are lots of “so-called” important people telling you what to do right now, but most of them are spinmasters who only care about the bottom line.

    When I first learned about the infamous audio tape, I didn’t believe it until I heard it for myself. I was shocked to say the least. This wasn’t a mistake and you know that Duane Chapman. Please don’t try to bullshit me. Your diatribe using the word “Nigger” had to come from somewhere. Maybe from your time in prison, or maybe from your upbringing, but it came from somewhere deep inside you brother.

    I know you are trying to explain this away by saying you thought you were “down with the brothers”, but you know that’s not true Dog. Those so-called "brothers" do not use the term as “Nigger”. They say “Nigga”. In addition, very few white men could ever use that term under any pronounciation with any black person under any ciurcumstances - any time - any where!

    You have to repent Duane. You have to admit that this was something drilled into your brain, and that you don’t really know what you were thinking when you said it. This had to be a subconscious thing because you sounded like a white supremicist for Christ’s sake and you know it.

    I’m hoping that this was simply drilled into to you over the years as a young white man, and that when it comes to dealing with people (one on one), you don’t give a crap about their color. Just think of all the black Americans serving in Iraq . Are they Niggers? Do they deserve to be called Niggers?

Although the vast majority of comments have been in favor of our corporate stance, a number of your fans have emailed me begging for mercy, but most of them don’t seem to understand the true meaning of the word “Nigger”. Many of your fans complain that black Americans use the word regularly, and they don’t see why whites shouldn’t have the same right. You need to teach your fans that in life there are times when a double standard must exist. What’s right is right my friend....

    Black Americans took control of the word “Nigger” back in the early 1990s – mainly in rap. Whether consciously or subconsciously, many young black people decided to control this word in order to take back the control of their ancestor’s lives that had been stolen by early white Americans. There’s no doubt that black Americans have every right to control that horrible word in any way they see fit. You must acknowledge that Dog and you must make that clear to your fans.

    You say you know what it’s like to be called a “Half breed” or “White Trash”, and I also know what it’s like to be labeled as something you’re not. So you have to give black Americans the respect of understanding the true impact of the word “Nigger” in the history of society. And now you must become a spokesperson for it.

    If you could only repent and come to grips with where your racist language comes from, I might be able to back your show once again. For some reason, I have faith that you may redeem yourself, but we need to talk if you’re going to do so. I think you’re getting some really bad advice Duane!

I have some great ideas that might help you get through this. Number one, I think you should host a documentary on the History Channel (same ownership as A&E). The documentary should be about the struggle of black Americans from slavery through modern days. It should focus on the word "Nigger". I can fill in the rest if you contact me. My company would back such an endeavor if it was done from the heart. I am a  former tv producer, and I know what I'm talking about.

    I have also posted this email on our main website for record. We have nothing to hide here. For us it's about corporate responsibility and doing what's right. Please turn this into a positive Duane.

The Response From My Appearance On CNBC & The Oprah Winfrey Show

The response from the show has been incredible. We have heard from thousands of new customers and many big distributors. Sinus Buster is a huge hit and we are proud of our products. I want to thank the producers of “The Big Idea” I worked with on this (Scott and Marianne). They are the tops. I also want to thank Donny Deutsch, a stand-up guy who really cares about helping inventors and dreamers make their dreams come true.

Sinus Buster on CNBC - The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch

Sinus Buster will be featured on CNBC during an episode of "The Big Idea" with Donny Deutsch (Monday Night July 16th at 10PM & 1AM).

It was a great experience! The Big Idea crew is filled with excellent people, and Donny Deutsch is a really great guy. He really cares about the passion of starting a business and inventing the next big idea. We got to the CNBC studios in the early afternoon, and we met some incredible people. I even got to see Jim Kramer stealing (LOL) chocolate chip cookies from the green room. The episode is all about people who started successful businesses with less than $500.

This was the first time I got to tell my story to a national audience. I talked about my experiences on the Oprah Winfrey Show, and how I accidentally discovered that hot peppers could stop my chronic cluster headaches. It was a hard story to tell because I wish I had more time to discuss the rest of this giant story.

I never intended to sell Sinus Buster when I first invented it back in 1995, but after seeing how well it worked for myself and my friends, I realized it could help many other people. Then in 2003, I found myself out of a job, and I was a single "full time" dad with a child to raise. That's when I decided to start selling Sinus Buster on eBay, and the reaction was incredible. Once I started getting emails and calls from hundreds of people praising Sinus buster, I launched our website and the rest is history. I actually invented the world's first capsaicin (hot pepper) nasal spray.

Today (thanks to all of you faithful customers), Sinus Buster is sold in thousands of stores, but the story doesn't end there. Our entire Sinus Buster line is registered with the FDA as the first over the counter capsaicin nasal sprays. It makes me proud to know how many people we've helped, and I dream every night of helping millions more.

But on the eve of what should be a happy occassion for me, I am very VERY SAD! It's all because I was raised to be a trusting and caring person - something that can bite you in the ass if you're not careful, and boy has it bitten me!

Back in 2003 (while I was literally starting my business in my kitchen), I never realized how fast this thing was going grow. Within a few months Sinus Buster was featured in The Wall Street Journal and on the Howard Stern Show. I thought the world was my oyster when suddenly all these business sharks started swimming around with lots of promises.

One guy in particular was brought in by an ex-friend of mine. He was slick from the start, and told me how I would never make it because I had no business experience. He spent the next year or so promising he would become a distributor and an investor. He claimed he could help me get into stores right away, and he laid the BS on so thick. I wanted to believe him and I bit the hook. Although I thought I was protected because I made him sign a non-disclosure agreement that spelled everything out so perfectly, or so I believed.

At that time, I knew nothing about patents and figured I could not afford one for quite a while. This guy picked my brain, and took notes concerning everything we were doing. He said this was all because he was going to take Sinus Buster to the next level. He kept feeding me full of self doubt, telling me I couldn't do it myself. After all, I'm a guy with a ninth grade education, and all I cared about was getting Sinus Buster to as many people as possible so it could help them the way it helped me years earlier.

By the summer of 2005, I realized this guy was playing me for a fool, and I cut all ties with him thinking I was protected by the agreement he signed. We moved on with business and prayed he was out of our lives for good. Unfortunately this guy had received nearly 500 units of Sinus Buster under false pretences, and soon he started selling them on eBay at a cut-rate price. I pleaded with him to stop, but he basically told me to go F---myself. Finally after complaining to eBay, he stopped selling the old sinus busters and I thought it was all over, but boy was I wrong!

In the spring of 2006, he started selling the nearly expired product on eBay once again. I complained, but it did no good. Then in May of 2006, he launched his own so-called pepper nasal spray (I won't mention the brand name), although it is an inferior product in every way. We immediately started a lawsuit against him and his company, and we've been fighting the "good fight" ever since.

The thing that hurts the most isn't the fact that he's a big money guy who scammed us for ill-gotten gains. What hurts the most is he is claiming to have invented capsaicin nasal spray even though we have tons of evidence against him. This is a guy who at first thought my ideas were stupid, and now here he is claiming to have invented it. He even copied my marketing strategies that he had once claimed were no good. In other words, he is trying to steal from very soul. He is trying to steal my dreams. I can't even relate to this kind of evil person!

Our lawyers have a ton of evidence, but the road to justice is long and hard, and very expensive. Not only has this person stolen from my heart and mind, but he has tried on numerous occassions to sabotage our business using his money and connections - all in the name of greed.

The personal pain I have faced over this has been devastating, but it also has made me stronger than ever. As Sinus Buster and SiCap Industries have developed and grown into a potential giant, I continue to garner personal strength from all of you out there. Every time I recieve an email from someone thanking us for Sinus Buster, it gives me the strength of a thousand men, and for that I thank you all. God Bless all of you wonderful people out there who contact me everyday. You are the ones who keep me going.

Thankfully we have patented all of our innovative Sinus Buster formulas to date, and we will continue to grow and achieve our rightful place in the history of this world. But on the eve of what should be one of my happiest days (thanks to Donny Deutsch), I am sad. Nobody in this world has the right to steal your dreams - not to mention your blood, sweat and tears. And I know I must continue the fight because I still believe in the goodness of this world!

You have to fight for your dreams in this world because nobody else will unless you do it for yourself. And I'd like to get this message out there to warn those of you who may have similar dreams. You must protect your dreams from the start, and you must continue on no matter how hard things may seem. The world is never fair, but I still believe most people are! If we stick together we can beat the unscrupulous people of this world because what's right is right! I will always believe that people mean far more than money ever will. In a world filled with wrongs, we must always try to do the right thing.
